I am ringing in week number 4 of our Sustainable Christmas guide. If you are new here, let me explain for a moment. My friend Rosa from Conscious Lifestyle of Mine and I wanted to inspire this year to do Christmas a little different than the years before. We dedicated a theme to each week of the sustainable Christmas Guide, so far food for the soul, less is more, and beauty from the inside out. This weeks motto is: Gifts that give back, which is, in our eyes the most important week of all.
2020 has been turbulent. And turbulent this probably even an understatement. Christmas will be a lot different this year from what we are used to and we are celebrating mostly away from our family and friends. But with the pandemic, a lot of focus has shifted away from environmental issues which are in deed the most important of our times. So to tackle this challenge we have collaborated with Treedom for week number 4 and the perfect partner for GIFTS THAT GIVE BACK.
If you haven’t heard of them before, Treedom is a social business which focusses on planting trees in socially, environmentally and economically disadvantaged regions of the world.
#TheGreatestGift: Our planet needs us more than ever
Here is how it works You buy a tree online which is then planted by a small farmer and his family. The tree is geo-tagged and photographed so you can follow its life online. The farmers meanwhile benefit from the tree as it secures food for them or gives them an income by selling the harvest. So far Treedom has planted more than 1,430,472 trees in 17 countries.
By gifting a tree to someone, you give a purposeful gift to someone while giving back to the environment AND supporting a small farmer that will live off that tree from now on. Plus when purchasing a tree voucher, you can send your gift even form a the distance.
+++Want to know what’s even better? By using the code CONSCIOUSCHRISTMAS here, Treedom will plant another tree on top of the one you buy. +++
You ready to do something good with your next gift? Amazing, we love you for it! And nature will love you for it too.
