It seems there is literally nothing matcha can’t do for your health. It has a million of health-promoting benefits such as increasing the metabolism, calming the mood and cleansing the body. For my part, matcha has definitely become my secret health weapon. It’s is the very first thing I am putting into my body before cycling the 6 kilometers to the office. Every day. But before I share my version of a sugarfree clean matcha with you I would like to tell you how it has actually benefited my personal wellbeing. You all know every person’s body and metaboliosm works very differently so what I experience might be very different from you.
What Matcha has done for me:
- Unlike coffee, matcha energizes me all day long without making me feel sluggish or tired later in the day. All it takes is one glass of matcha in the morning to keep my energy levels up, not more than that. It also has no effect on my sleeping patterns – even if I decide to have my matcha later in the day I am still able to go to sleep with a calm body and mind.
- It doesn’t get me hooked. What I mean by that is that I am not experiencing any headaches or feel miserable when I stop having matcha – very different from coffee . I feel perfectly fine on days where I don’t have my morning matcha.
- The very best thing about matcha for me? It has majorly improved my digestion. As someone that struggles with bad digestion since early childhood this is kind of a lifesafer. I would have not believed it myself if someone had told me that a ‘ground tea leaf drink’ would help me. I have researched a bit around how matcha helps with digestion and it’s mostly agreed on that this might be due to the high content of antioxidants and chlorophyll which enhances general cell regerneration.
I have to admit, I am not a pure matcha drinker and why would I if I can add more to a drink to make it more nutritious and more tasty? So I am using my blender and some extra ingredients like dates for sweetness to elevate my every morning matcha. By using your blender instead of the traditional matcha whisk you end up with cafe-style creamy matcha. Loaded with fiber, antioxidants, potassium, this creamy breakfast drink will keep you feeling full and energized! And not to mention, it tastes amazing!
Makes 1 Glass of my Sugarfree Clean Cinnamon Matcha
- 3 dates
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp good quality matcha (I love Matcha Focus by Kissatea)
- 1/4 tsp wheatgrass powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup oat milk
Add all ingredients into your high speed blender and blend away for a minute until it starts to become frothy on the top. Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy for a perfect start into the day.
For those of you looking for a caffeine-free morning drink it might be worth tyring a Rooibos latte instead. Pure Rooibos powder (which means the Rooibos tea leaves are finely ground) contains antioxidants without the caffeine. It also adds a mild caramel-like flavor which I am sure you will love as much as I do.
