I thought I would do a recipe for all of you sporties out there! I am a big fan of a good intense workout BUT I also love to indulge in sweets so I figured why not come up with with a dessert/cake that actually prepares you for your workout?! A treat that gives you that extra bit of energy to attend that bitchy bootcamp class! So here is my suggestion what you should do:
Skip the next work out (yes, I mean it!), make a ton of this High Protein Wake Up & Work Out Fudge, store it in the fridge and eat one or two pieces prior to every workout and go crazy. The fudge contains banana for energy, matcha for focus, protein powder for the ones that believe its neccessary and coffee (entirely optional) to fight tiredness.
Although I find that matcha gives me quite a kick, adding a hint of coffee will bring out the chocolate flavour a lot more – but as I said – totally optional.
High Protein Wake Up & Work Out Fudge
- 1 cup banana puree
- 1 cup coconut joghurt
- ½ tsp ground vanilla
- 1 tbsp coconut oil (melted) I love the Tropicai virgin coconut oil
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp coconut blossom syrup
- 1 tsp coffee
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- Pinch of salt
- 2.5 tbsp rice protein powder
Mix the first 6 ingredients. Slowly whisk in the coffee, salt, cocoa powder and protein powder. Line a square brownie pan and pour in the mixture. Bake for 35-40 minutes at 180 degrees. Let it all cool for at least 30 minutes and cut ino squares. Whip up the coconut cream from a can of chilled coconut milk. Place the can in the fridge overnight. Open the can remove the hard cream from the top. Whip this up with an electric beater. Add 1/2 tsp of matcha, 1 tsp of coconut sugar and 1/4 tsp ground vanilla.
Now arange your dessert by piling up the squares (in case you eat more than 2 at a time) – slab some matcha cream inbetween. Top with more whipped coconut cream, pecans and homemade banana chips.
